A friend of mine bought herself a 1986 Savage 2 years ago. The bike was in amazing shape for being 15 years old and having 37,000 klicks on it. Last year she was starting to get a little blow-by through the head gasket. I volunteered to help her replace the gasket and was surprised on just how easy the bike was to work upon. I have since made more minor repairs, adjustments, tunings etc. for her. The bike is still thumping strong at 43000 klicks. I was so impressed by this bike that when my wife earned her riding licence this year, we went out and purchased her a 2000 Savage.
